I love how the media types keep talking about “another side of Benedict” or a “change.”
That a person who authentically believes the full truth of Christianity should also practice it is dumfounding to them.
That Benedict should show compassion to the handicapped, or victims of sexual abuse, should surprise no one. That Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton would show genuine compassion to anyone would be the real surprise.
The incident in 2003 with the reporter questioning him about Fr. Maciel (who, of course, Benedict silenced as Pope) had more to do with the reporter’s attitude than it did with the accusations against Maciel.
They think that taking a “hard line” on birth control somehow means he’s not compassionate??? Birth control, which is about the most self-centered and materialistic act a person can do????
