Michelle Obama’s Mom calls Laura Ingraham to say she likes Bill O’Reilly!

This is hilarious! You have to watch this! Wow.

I don’t get the chance to listen much, but Laura Ingraham is the only talk radio host I have any respect for anymore.

A big plus in her book is that, unlike Hannity (pro-contraception heretic), O’Reilly (pro-contraception heretic), Beck (apostate) and Coulter (had a Catholic parent and has overtly rejected the Faith), she’s actually a convert *to* Catholicism.

Anyway, the clip starts with Ingraham criticizing Obama for golfing in Martha’s Vineyard while the economy is “tanking.”

An elderly African American lady calls in from DC named “M.R.” She criticizes “Miss Ingra-ham” for her nasty attitude and constantly criticizing the President and the First Lady.

So Laura explains that her criticisms of the president’s lifestyle are based upon the fact that our economy is “tanking.”
Caller says, “The economy is fine” (must’ve been hanging out with Bush).
Then the caller says, “The economy is fine. I was just in Martha’s Vineyard, and the city’s fine. People were having a grand time.”
Laura says, “Wait, you were in Martha’s Vineyard.”
Then the old lady says something about “We had Valerie’s people over,” and Laura suggests Valerie Jarrod, and the caller says “I’m not calling to get specific with you.”

Then she says something about Ingraham’s appearance on the “Reilly Factor,” and after Ingraham points out that it’s “O’Reilly” (noting that she like’s “Reilly” better than Ingraham), the caller says, “You’re very cocky with the elderly.”

So Laura finally asks the caller if “M.R.” stands for Marian Robinson, and the caller hangs up!!

Though, really, the most interesting thing of this is that Michelle Obama’s mom likes to watch Bill O’Reilly!

On September 11, 2006, Rob Evans, aka “The Donut Man,” appeared on The Journey Home to discuss his conversion to Catholicism. That time, Mary e-mailed a question, in two parts.
The first part of the question was from Allie, who was upset that he was dressed in regular clothes and didn’t “look like” the “Donut Man.” He was glad someone asked, and pulled his trademark hat and glasses out from under the table.
The second part was more serious, and she signed all our names on the e-mail.

Instead, I called the show right when it started, and they kept me on hold, saving me to be the first caller!

State Department Admits Obama is Ineligible!!

On a page designed to “debunk” various “conspiracy theories” (and lumping all of them together), the State Department has a page about “Obama birth” conspiracy theories, in which it admits that, from 1963 to 1982, Barack Obama maintained dual citizenship. Of course, the claim that Obama exercised dual citizenship at all, and particularly past the age of 18, is a fundamental claim of the “Birther” movement. The whole point of requiring a president to be a “born” citizen, as opposed to just “naturalized,” is to avoid the president having divided loyalties with another nation. The whole point is to have no doubt about the president’s citizenship. And now, the government itself is validating that Obama does not meet that requirement.

God has really been blessing my family lately, and we are grateful for the many good things that have been happening for us lately. And while one doesn’t want to seem ungrateful, one also realizes that God wants us dependent upon Him, which is why He is reluctant to give big miracles.

That said, there are three big areas of concern in our family right now, and I’m going to start a blog Novena for those three intentions. I’m waiting to hear about a full time college teaching job, which, of course, would be my “big break.”

I’m also praying that we will be able to fund our Modest Needs grant and get my van repaired.

We’re also praying that we will find and qualify for the right rental home (a search that is suspended until we know about the job).

Also, as always, but not as urgently (except as it relates to the above), I’m praying for the success of my CD.

So, for these intentions, and yours, please join me in prayer:

I am 99.999% positive I will be getting my first ever full time college teaching position.

This has made it all the more imperative that I repair my handicapped van and, as a friend put it today, “liberate my wheelchair.” We will need the van to move, and I will need the wheelchair to be able to do my job.

We are grateful for the generous donations we have already received towards our Modest Needs grant, but we are only 9% of the way there as of this writing.

I know there’s a lot of redundancy between these groups, but if a) everyone we knew in real life, b) everyone who reads this blog, c) everyone in my Facebook contacts (900+ “friends,” and over 500 people who are “fans” of my FB pages that aren’t also “friends”) were to donate just a few dollars each, this grant could be funded tomorrow.

I am amazed at the power of the Novenas I’ve been saying, and this van repair is the last stage towards my family finally getting some stability after 10 years of struggle.

“Catholics” for a Free Choice? Call to Action? “In Fighting”?


You may have heard about the controversy. Some groups, including the Catholic League, wanted New York City to honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of Blessed “Mother” Teresa of Calcutta on August 26, 2010, by lighting up the side of the Empire State Building to show her picture. Apparently, this has been done to honor various figures, .
Thirteen “Dissenting” Groups, including Call to Action (excommunicated by Archbishop Fabian Bruskewitz in 1994 and upheld by the Apostolic Signatura), New Ways Ministry (officially censured by the Vatican), Women’s Ordination Conference (supporting a heretical idea that was declared off limits ex cathedra by John Paul II, not to mention condemned by one of the early Church Councils), and of course “Catholics for Choice” (a wholly owned subsidiary of Planned Parenthood), have sided with the Empire State Building, saying that the Catholic League does not represent all Catholics, and they don’t like Mother Teresa, since she opposed “gay rights,” “reproductive rights” and “women’s ordination.”

So some guest columnist at the Washington Post’s anti-Catholic “On Faith” column named Tracy Grant has suggested that this “in-fighting” is embarrassing and would be offensive to Mother Teresa, whose concern was helping the poorest of the poor. Grant refers to the 13 groups as “Dissenters” and “progressives” and seems to presume these 13 groups want to honor Mother Teresa by doing acts of charity. Even if that is the case, Grant and the 13 Ghosts of the Spirit of Vatican II seem to forget that Mother Teresa herself said the absolute “poorest of the poor” are the unborn.

Danielle Bean, a bit surprisingly, agrees that this situation is embarrassing. On Facebook, she replied to my concern by admitting that, yes, “in fighting” was probably a bad choice of words but, to the average “outsider,” this is what it looks like.

Is Bill Donohue over the top and bombastic? Sure. So were Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
Is it hypocritical of the Empire State Building to honor Communism, the Salvation Army, the Grateful Dead, Mariah Carey, Blue M&Ms, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but not Mother Teresa? Sure.
Would Mother Teresa *want* to be honored by the Empire State Building? No.
Would energies be better served elsewhere? Yes.
Does this constitute in-fighting and an embarrassment to Catholicism? Hardly. The only embarrassment is that these 13 groups can claim to be “Catholic” without being called on it. Why isn’t the USCCB stepping into this fight to say these 13 groups aren’t Catholic?
