What does it profit a man?

Unfortunately, we won’t really know about John Roberts until if and when he’s appointed. Anyone who says that justices cannot be ideologues, or that judges must be like “umpires” and only interpret the rules, *must* by definition oppose _Roe v. Wade_, which was written by ideologues who thought they had the right to change the rules.
You don’t hear umpires talk about “penumbral shadows” around the rules of baseball.
On the other hand, it is quite disappointing that he agrees with the late, unlamented Martyr of Modernism, John F. Kennedy, in renouncing his Catholic Faith in order to achive political power. Roberts, whether he is pro-life or not, has just sworn away his soul.
He would be wise to remember our Lord’s admonition about gaining the world at the cost of one’s soul. “If you deny Me before men, I will deny you before my Father” (Mt 10:33).
I’ve never understood this “religious litmus test” idea. If the Kennedy-Kerry-Roberts “Catholics” of the world cannot be trusted to keep their oaths before God, how can we trust them to keep their oaths of office?

As for the Senators, Specter, Feinstein, etc., are nothing but a bunch of bigots and murderers. Their entire raison d’etre is to kill babies. It’s sad and disgusting.
