Reflections on the Rosary

“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.”

Novena to Mary, Undoer of Knots, Day 1

Novena Prayer to Mary, Undoer of Knots
(Said To Be Infallible)

O HOLY MARY, full of the presence of God, during thy life thou accepted with great humility the holy will of the Father, and the legacy of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and evil never dared to entangle thee with its confusion.

Since then, thou hast interceded for all our difficulties as thou didst at the wedding feast of Cana. With all simplicity and with patience, thou hast given us an example of how to untangle the knots in our complicated lives. By being our Mother forever, thou arrangest and makest clear the path that unites us to Our Lord.

HOLY MARY, Mother of God and ours, with thy maternal heart, please untie the knots that upset our lives. We ask thee to receive into thine hands our finances, careers and housing, and deliver us from the chains and confusion that restrain us.

O BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, through thy grace, thy intercession, and by thy example, deliver us from evil and untie the knots that keep us from being united to God, so that free of every confusion and error, we may find Him in all things, keep Him in our hearts, and serve Him always in our brothers and sisters.

O MARY, Undoer of Knots, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Amen.

My kids discuss prayer

Gianna: “Daddy, is it OK if, while praying the Rosary, since praying is supposed to be talking to God, you say the Hail Mary’s with your mouth but think about what you want to say to God in your head?”

Me: “Yes, Gianna.  That’s more than OK.  It’s really how you’re supposed to pray the Rosary.  It’s called meditation.”

Gianna: “Is that like what you do at Adoration?”
Allie: “That’s exactly what I do at Adoration!”

Another blast from the B16 Bomber: Pell will pick our bishops!

I keep saying it: “Benedict is on the move.”
As the media’s slanderous assaults against our Holy Father proceed, His Holiness Benedict XVI keeps making amazing decisions that will positively effect the Church for decades to come.

The latest?

According to Rorate Caeli, we will soon learn that George Cardinal Pell, archbishop of Sydney, Australia, has been named as the new Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops.  This means that one of the bishops most known for orthodoxy *worldwide* is going to be in charge of appointing bishops.

Pell was very instrumental in the movement to get an accurate English translation of the Roman Missal (IIRC, Pell was in charge of the Vox Clara Commission, the Vatican’s ad hoc committee that was basically operating parallel to and against the International Committee on English in the Liturgy (IIRC) to implement _Liturgiam Authenticam_).

He was also instrumental in the movement that resulted in the Anglican Ordinariates.

Some of his other achievements, according to his Wikipedia entry:

1.  He’s “controversial” for upholding basic Catholic teachings (and Natural Law principles) regarding sexuality, and for “supporting” the Holy Father’s statement of the fact that condoms promote the spread of AIDS.

2.  He supports the full restoration of the Society of St. Pius X as long as they accept the teachings of Vatican II that the state cannot coerce faith and that anti-semitism is a sin.

3.  He said politicians who support embryonic stem cell research and human cloning should not present themselves for Communion.

4.  He has criticized Islam as “not a tolerant religion,” and as the “Communism of the 21st Century”.

5.  He has called environmentalists “neo-Pagans.”

6.  He opposes no-fault divorce.

7.  He supports mandatory _ad orientam_ posture.

8.  He doesn’t like Barack Obama.

It’s First Thursday

In this Year of Priests, the Holy Father has offered a Plenary Indulgence, under usual conditions, to those who, while in church, commit all priests to the protection of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
