Bishops: If you support abortion, do not come to the altar

An overwhelming majority of the bishops (201-24, with two abstaining) voted in favor of telling all Catholics who support legalized abortion, not just politicians, that they should refrain from Communion. However, the bishops refuse to publicly deny communion to politicians.

But that gets back to the same basic questions: if a prominent non-Catholic came up for Communion, would the bishops deny that person? What about someone who came up to the altar drunk or otherwise obviously unprepared?
